LESSON PLAN 2

Level of Proficiency: Intermediate                       Title of the Lesson   : Signs in the Town or Country

Duration of the Lesson: 80 minutes                     Language Point: Imperatives

Equipment Needed: Whiteboard and maker.

Objectives:


Ø  At the beginning of the lesson, the students will be able to learn the differences between some words such as; information, prohibition, warning, instruction.
Ø  Within 20 minutes the students will be able to recall the words related to imperatives such as; no fishing, no swimming, slow down…etc.

Ø  By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to create imperative sentences about their school.


PRESENTATION
Pre-activity(15 mts)

1. The teacher greets the students, and then shows some pictures about the topic. Asks students to say exactly where the pictures were taken. Try to elicit names of places in Exercise A.

2. Show each pictures to the class again. This time tell students that there is a sign in the picture. Ask them to say that what could the sing say? Elicit suggestions, and write them on the board.

Exp:  No fishing near the river! (In the first picture.)

Main activity(45 mts)

1. Asks students work in pair. Give each student a photocopy. Ask student’s match signs 1-12 with the places in Exercise A.

 2. Asks students look at the signs 13-18 and decide where they would find these signs. Point out that the six places are in the list in the Exercise A.

3. Asks students to decide which sentence in Exercise B explains the main message for the signs 13-18.

4. Discuss different kinds of signs with the class. Write the headings from the chart below on the board. Use these notes and examples in the chart to explain the meaning of the headings in the chart.
