LESSON PLAN

                   Whiteboard,
                   Video,  
                   Work sheet.                                                                                           
Type of activity: Fill in the blanks, pair work, listening and complete the chart activities.         
               

Aim:  to teach difference between adjective and adverb in English.
         
      

Objectives: By the end of the lesson;
                    
·         Students will be able to realize difference between adjectives and adverbs by  watching presentation includes examples of differences.
·         Students will be able to make sentences by using adjectives and adverbs. (careless and carelessly, happy and extremely happy, normal and normally, young and old, and etc. )
·         Students will be able to pronounce the given adjectives and adverbs correctly.



Procedure

     Warm up

Listening, Speaking and brainstorming:

The teacher greets the students with  a friendly 'Hello!'... How are you today? Teacher smiles and give the class a positive atmosphere. Teacher starts to lesson with a video that is about an ambitious and hardworking girl. And asks students general questions about video. For example : which kind of girl is she? Teacher gives the first answer as an example such as ‘she is an ambitious girl’. Then students try to answer the question. Than teacher tells the students that ‘today our topic is differences between adjectives and adverbs’.





Listening activity :
Teacher starts to tell students differences between adjectives and adverbs by using presentation that s/he prepared before. While telling students differences, teacher asks some basic questions like ‘which kind of person is s/he?’ ‘how is he driving?’. Teacher gives students a handout including basic forms of adjectives and adverbs and exceptions forms to make them observe the forms of adjectives and adverbs.



Pair work activity :
Teacher tells students to complete the chart in pairs with adverb forms of given adjectives like fast, bad, angry etc. And teacher does the first one to give an example to students. Teacher gives students 5 minutes to complete the chart. Teacher walks around the students to see whether they need help. After all the students finish the activity teacher starts to check students answers. Teacher chooses students randomly and they come to the board and write their answer to board and whole class check the answers.

Fill in the blanks activity :
Teacher tells the students to complete the sentences with the correct adverbial form of the adjective in parentheses. And teacher does the first one as an example. Then teacher gives students 3 minutes to complete the sentences. Teacher walks around the students to see whether they need help. After all students complete the sentences teacher starts to check their answers. Teacher chooses students randomly. Students come to board and write his answers to board and whole class check the answers.

Writing activity :
Teacher tells students to answer the questions using the correct adverbial form of the adjective in parentheses. Teacher answers the first question as an example. Then teacher gives students 3 minutes to answer the questions. Teacher walks around the students to see whether they need help. After all of the students answer all the questions teacher starts to check them. Teacher chooses students randomly and they come to the board. They write their answers to board and whole class check the answers. After all teacher asks the students questions like ‘is it clear?, is there any problem?’ to understand whether there is a problem. And teacher finishes the course.




Input :  Presentation, worksheets, handout, video.
Outcome: The products outcomes for teacher are students’ realization differences between adjectives and adverbs.
                 The proses outcomes are speaking, writing and listening skills.
Teacher roles:  The teacher facilitator, model, collaborator, director, controller and guider.
Students roles: Children are participator and active during the lesson.

How to facilitate learning: language learning is facilitated by using real life task, using picture and flashcards.
