LESSON PLAN 1

Teacher: Cigdem YOLERİ
Age Group: 15
Lesson Title: Suggestion- Requests
Duration: 40’
Equipment Needed: Whiteboard, 2 pieces of paper for students, smartboard.

Objectives:
·         Students will be able to give suggestion according to the situation by using structures. Let’s…, why don’t we…etc.
·         Students will be able to make request and respond the request.

Aim:
·         To encourage students to use structure of suggestions and request,
·         To make students to use let’s do…, why don’t we…, would you mind…, could you…, can you…etc. by asking and answering the questions,
·         To make students more active with group activity.

New vocabulary items:
·         Let’s do…,
·         Why don’t we…?,
·         Would you mind…?,
·         Wouldn’t you mind…?,
·         Could you…?,
·         Can you…?.

Procedure
Introduction:
The lesson begins with sentences “Could you please open the window?” and then they will answer then ask another question, “Let’s start the lesson.” Write them on the white board.

Presentation/warm-up:
Ask the students “Which structure did I use when I asked you questions.” Students give answers to the question. According to their answers, I revise their knowledge of the subject. Then explain the subject and the structure.

Activity:
Students are going to play a game as groups. They will be separated 5 groups. The game’s name is “Prepare your own party!”. Explain the instructions to the students. Use their imaginations. While they are planning party, they have money how much they need, there is no limitation. They discuss what they need, where should the party be, which band they are going to call… by using suggestions. While they are discussing, open music (Lemon Tree) on the smart-board. Give them 5 minutes, after five minutes by using train station technique, chance the groups. But in each group one student stays but the others change their groups. This time day have to make sentences by using request forms. They prepare the best party to be winner. Give them 10 minutes, again open the same music. After they finish, every group explain their party by reading their written text. Other groups make comments, how it is, is it good or not good… etc. 

Speaking:
Ss speak in their groups firstly. Then they speak by discussion.

Writing:
Ss write their suggestions and request on 2 pieces of paper.

Assessment:
            Students learn with cooperative learning activities. Class discussions, students discuss the subject firstly in their groups and then the whole class discusses content of the party. Only if one group which write the sentences in correct form and also prepare the best party, that group will be winner.

Contingency Plan:

If they have still time, open the music and try to sing together.
