Lesson plan II

LESSON PLAN

Materials: Smart board,
                   Whiteboard,
                   Video,  
                   Work sheet.                                                                                           
Type of activity: Fill in the blanks, pair work, individual work, writing sentence, group work and games.         
               

Aim:  to teach past tense in English.
         
      

Objectives: By the end of the lesson;
                    
·         Students will be able to tell their past experiences by using past forms of the verbs taught by the teacher.
·         Students will be able to make sentences by using past forms of the verbs.
·         Students will be able to tell make use correct forms of the irregular verbs.



Procedure

     Warm up

Listening, Speaking and brainstorming:5 minutes

The teacher greets the students with  a friendly 'Hello!'... How are you today? Teacher smiles and give the class a positive atmosphere. Teacher starts lesson by asking previous topic. Students answer these question. And teacher introduces today’s topic by drawing a timeline to the board.

 Listening  speaking activity : 15minutes
Teacher starts to teach students past forms of the verbs by using a presentation which is about Jason Statham’s life. Teacher gives example of Jason Statham’s past experiences. And teacher asks some basic students to encourage them to use target language like : Do you know him or do you like his movies?




Fill in the blanks activity :10 minutes
Teacher asks students to complete the sentences with the past forms of the given verbs. She does the first one as an example. Then she gives students five minutes to complete them. She walks around the students to see whether they need help. after they finish to complete, teacher chooses students randomly and students reads their answers. Teacher gives feedback by saying ‘good job , well done’.

Writing activity:10 minutes
Teacher asks students to write five sentences about their past experiences. Teacher writes a sentences as an example : I was born in 1985. Then she gives students five minutes. She walks around the students to see whether they need help. Then teacher chooses students randomly and they read their sentences. Teacher gives feedback by saying ‘good job , well done’.



Group work : 15 minutes
Teacher asks students to work in groups. And discuss their last summer holiday with group member. Find common activities and write them down. Teacher gives students 10 minutes to complete discussion. She walks around the groups to see whether they need help. then teacher chooses one student to read the common activities in their group.


Speaking activity : 15 minutes
 Teacher asks students to tell their friends their best holiday. At least 5 sentences about holiday. She says a sentence as an example : ‘I went to Maldives’. Then she gives 5 minutes students to think about it. And after 5 minutes teacher chooses students firstly , volunteer ones. And students tell their best holiday to their friends.

Game : 10 minutes
Teacher asks students to play a game. And she introduces the game to students. I will say a verb and you will find the past form of it. I will write to board a plus for each students who find the correct form. At the end of the game who has the most plus win the game. Then she does the first one as an example. After each correct answer she draws a plus for that student and she gives feedback by saying ‘good job, well done’


Input :  Presentation, worksheets, pictures.
Outcome: The products outcomes for teacher are students’ realization of past tense.
                 The proses outcomes are speaking and writing skills.
Teacher roles:  The teacher facilitator, model, collaborator, director, controller and guider.
Students roles: Children are participator and active during the lesson. 
Organization: Pair work, individual, group work.
How to facilitate learning: language learning is facilitated by using real life task, using picture and flashcards.
