LESSON PLAN-2

Lesson Title: Sports

Duration: 40 minutes

Equipment Needed: Computer, Projection, Worksheets, Board, Boardmarker, Speakers


 Aims: 
  •  To teach types of sports.
  •  To teach daily routine by using time expressions

Objectives:
·         
  •        By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize types of sports.
  •         By the end of the lesson, students will be able to fill in the blanks by listening.
  •          By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write answers of the questions about Simon’s routine.
  •        By the end of the lesson, students will be able to complete a matching activity correctly to make true sentences about Simon.




PROCEDURE



Step 1: Teacher comes to the class and greets the students. She says ‘I watched basketball match on TV last night and there were really good players.’ She asks them which sports they know. Students say ‘football, volleyball, tennis, swimming....’ Teacher gives examples about the sports on the computer by using projector. She shows the pictures of sports, she teaches them. And she asks them which sports they usually do. Students answer in Turkish. She writes on the board in English. She gets them to watch a video including Tom’s daily routine and she gives a worksheet. She says them to watch and listen carefully and fill in the blanks. Students watch three times. After students finish, she checks their answers on the board. (15 minutes)



Step 2: And then she gives a worksheet including short paragraphs of daily routines of three people. And she says them to read and answer the questions. Teacher checks them on the board all together. (10 minutes)




Step 3: Teacher divides the class into pairs (A and B) and each student has a worksheet. Each worksheet contains missing information about Simon’s routine. A student asks present simple questions to complete the chart, other student answers the questions. Students take it in turns to ask and answer. The pair has finished, they complete a matching activity in which they make true sentences about Simon based on the chart. Teacher checks the matching activity by using computer. (15 minutes)
