a chalk
Steps:
Warm
up (3’):
The teacher enters the class by holding a chalk in his or her hands.
She tries to use the chalk on the smart board. Then she says “Oh my
bad! That was years ago.”
Introduction
(2’):
The teacher tells the class they are going to compare old and new
inventions.
Presentation
(10’):
The teacher first asks the students how the technological inventions
have been changing over the past years. She writes the left side on
the board OLD, the right side NEW and fills the both sides of the
board with inventions (computer, mobile phone, space shuttle). And
then she asks them to compare their features and tell their opinions
and write their ideas on the board. After that, the teacher uses the
materials she brought and shows the authentic materials to the
students by forming sentences, using Present Perfect and present
Perfect Continuous Tense. Then, the teacher puts the materials on the
table and compares them in front of the students to make them a part
of the lesson with the help of authentic materials.
Activity
(20’):
The teacher tells the students s/he is going to read an e-mail about
a person who talks about his/her interest, and hobbies. The e-mail is
10 sentences long. At the first time the students listen to the
teacher. After that the teacher asks the students to make groups of
10, and give each of them a sentence from the e-mail written on a
small piece of paper. The teacher reads the e-mail again, and this
time the students need to order the sentences by listening to the
teacher. If they couldn’t manage to order the sentences at the
first time, the teacher reads the e-mail again.
