Objectives :

ü    Students will be able to make sentences using past progressive.

ü    Students will be able to talk about their own life experiences.

Procedure : 

1.      T greets the Sts.He talks about what they are going to do in this lesson. (10 mins.)

2.     Teacher talks about past progresive tense and writes the grammar points of past progressive tense on the board.He sticks a timeline on the board to make the subject more clear. (10 mins)

3.     The teacher explains the activity of the day.

Activity : Students make true sentences about what someone was doing when they saw that person, and the other students guess who it was, e.g. “He was pulling across two lanes of traffic” for a taxi driver or “She was writing something down in a notebook” for a traffic warden. (20 mins)

Objectives:

-          At the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand the difference between the Past Simple and the Past Progressive.

-          At the end of the lesson, students will be able to make sentences with using time clauses such as: when, while, as, as soon as.

-          At the end of the lesson, students will be able to give examples about simple past and past progressive.

Materials Needed:

-          Smart board

-          Board marker

-          CD player

-          Course book

Warm-Up:

-          Teacher draws students’ attention to the title of the lesson.

-          Teacher asks students to tell what they think the lesson is about.

-          Teacher elicits answers.

Introduction:

-          Teacher tells students the topic of the day.

Activity 1:

-          Teacher asks students the questions and elicits the answers.

-          Teacher draws students’ attention to the pictures.

-          Teacher explains the meaning of the pictures and which countries eat those foods.

-          Teacher asks students the questions and initiates a short discussion.

-          Teacher shows the picture below the text and asks students whether any relation with this pictures and the text.

-          Teacher elicits answers.

-          Teacher explains the vocabularies that are unknown.

-          Teacher shows three titles and asks students to choose the best title for the text.

-          Teacher plays the CD about the text and students read the text while they are listening.

-          Teacher asks some comprehension questions.

-          Teacher asks students to read the passage more carefully.

-          Students make T/F activity and then teacher checks the answers.

-          Teacher asks students to make matching activity and then teacher check anwers.

Activity 2:

-          Teacher draws students’ attention to the table.

-          Teacher explains the adjectives.

-          Teacher asks students do the activity and checks answers.

-          Teacher asks students to describe the adjectives with their own sentences.

Activity 3:

-          Teacher draws students’ attention to the verbs in bold.

-          Teacher allows students some time to match the sentences.

-          Teacher checks the answers.

-          Teacher tells the difference between past simple and past progressive.

-          Teacher asks students do the activity and the teacher check the answers.

Activity 4:

-          Teacher asks students to read thorough the questions.

-          In small groups, students take turns to ask and answer the questions.

-          Teacher goes around the class helping students when necessary.
