Cansu Horasan- appearence and personality

LESSON PLAN

Teacher: Cansu Horasan
Learning stage of class: Elementary
Age level of class: 12-13
Lesson title: Appearance and Personality
Duration: 40 + 40 minutes
Equipment needed: Worksheets, pencil, recording ,computer, crossword, speaker


AIMS:
·         To teach students describing people and making comparison things.

·         To teach writing simple sentences and phrases to compare people.

·         To teach relating new information to visual concepts.


OBJECTIVES:
·         At the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe people.

·         At the end of the lesson, students will be able to compare people/things.

·         At the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask and answer questions about  other people's appearances and personalities.

·         At the end of the lesson, students will be able to categorize the features.

·         At the end of the lesson, students will be able to conclude a crossword related to the personality.

 PROCEDURE

 Warm-up

Step 1: The teacher greets the students and give information about her appearance and personality. ( I have dark brown hair, I am very honest person..)
Step 2: Teacher distributes the worksheets. It is good for students because there are pictures in worksheet so that students have opportunity see more visual materials.
Step 3: Students look at the pictures and little charts which has got features about people.
Step 4: Students match the words with related pictures and describe the persons.

Main-activity

Step 5: Teacher says that they will listen a recording but before that, teacher distributes the worksheets. There are pictures and students write the correct words below the pictures.
Step 6: Students listen the recording and circle the best words on worksheet to complete sentences in listening recording. It's a multiple choice.
 Example: Aurelia is asking about Hannah’s boyfriend / brother / friend .
Step 7: Students listen the recording again and this time they complete the gaps with correct words.

____________________________ hair.

Step 8: Teacher gives them a reading text and students read it silently. After that students answer the following questions. 

Post-activity

Step 9: Teacher gives a crossword for each pair. This worksheet is a pair work activity using adjectives to describe personality and appearance. The aim of the task is to complete a crossword.
Step 10: Students take turns at giving definitions of the words they have got on their handouts. Students A describes an adjective, Student B has to guess the word and write it in the crossword.
