Teacher: Alparslan Şahin
Topic:  Simple past tense
Level:  10th Grade – Pre-intermediate
Aim:  To teach the simple past tense
Materials:  Textbook, written exercises.

Aim 1: Knowledge of simple past tense
 Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to
  1.understand the use of  simple past tense
 2. write sentences with simple past tense with the help of exercises

Aim 2: Understanding of the usage of simple past tense
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to
  1.make new sentences by using simple past tense

Introduction and activity
   Teacher greets the student and teaches the usage of simple past tense. And then teacher teaches the rules of simple past tense by using textbook. After that teacher gives written exercise for understanding the usage of simple past tense.

  Evaluation :

    Teacher controlls the answers of the student and the lesson is finished.

Definition: a substance that you use for washing

Sample Sentence: You need soap to clean your hands.

Definition:  a substance that prevent unpleasant smells

1.       Why do we use it?
2.       Do we frequently use it in summers?
3.       Where do we find it in our house?
Sample Sentence: Deodorant is good for fighting the smell of sweat.

Definition:  A cream containing a sunscreen

STAGES OF LESSON
1.    Lead-in (introduction):  
The teacher greets the students and tells about the topic which they will learn.
2.    Presentation:
For presentation, the teacher uses a whiteboard in the class. He also uses the course book. The teacher makes the students repeat after him for the pronunciation of the words.
3.    Explanation: 
The teacher explains the words by writing them on the board. He gives the meaning of words after he has looked them up in the dictionary. He also teaches collocation and pronunciation of the word by using real life materials.
4.    Accurate reproduction (controlled practice):
The teacher makes a matching activity.
5.    Guided practice (semi-controlled): 
The teacher makes a crossword puzzle activity.
6.    Immediate creativity (free practice):
The teacher utilizes magnetic capital letters and an iron white platform. He introduces the materials to the students to teach how to combine the magnetic letters to form proper words.
