LESSON PLAN

LESSON TITLE                       : Food and Drink
DURATION                            : 40 minutes
TEXTBOOK                            : Reading Extra
EQUIPMENT NEEDED              : Case,Boardmaker,Plastic plate,Plastic fork,Plastic                       
                                            knife,Cake.


OBJECTIVES/GOALS:
1- By the end of the lesson, students will be able able to distinguish foods and drinks .
2-By the end of the lesson, student will be able to match sentences in the worksheet.
3-By the end of the lesson, students will be able talk about foods and drinks.
4-By the end of the lesson, students will be able to relate quotation beginnings with quotation endings.

INTRODUCTION (5 minutes): (How will you introduce the teaching skill/concept?)
 -Teacher asks the students “What have you eaten foods today?”
-Teacher talks about foods and drinks with the students.
-Teacher asks the students “What do you think about foods?
 





READING LESSON
  1. Pre-reading stage(10 minutes):
- Teacher acts and writes following words from the worksheet on the board:table manners,packaging materials,teetotaller,balanced diet.
-Teacher elicits or explains the meaning of the words.
-Teacher asks students to predict what the lesson is about (food and drink).

 




2-While reading stage(15 minutes):
-Teacher explains to students that they are going to read and discusses some quotitions about  food and drink .Teacher points out that such quotations are often noted for their general truth.
-Teacher gives each pair of students the list of Quotation beginings.
-Teacher uses the notes below to provide background information about the sources.Teacher explains that Anon. is an abbreaviation for Anonymous and is used when the writer’s name is not known.
-Teacher encourages students to predict what word or what kind of word may come next.In quotation 1, for example,the next word is most likely to be an adjective,an article or a pronoun.
-Students work in the pairs and predict the endings of the quotations.They write their endings in a list.
-Teacher gives each pair of students the set of quotation endings.Teacher tells students to match the endings with the beginnings.
-Teacher checks the answer with the class .Teacher  gets individual students to read out  a full quotation each.
-Teacher asks students to paraphrase the quotations.





 
  1. Post-reading stage(10 minutes):
-Teacher discusses the quotations with the class.
-Teacher asks”which do students particulary like?Which do they agree with?Are and of their own endings better than the originals?





CLOSURE :  How will you end the lesson?
-Everbody really enjoys foods and drinks. Thank you for listening.See you next week.
