LESSON PLAN

                   Video,  
                   Work sheet.                                                                                           
Type of activity: Fill in the blanks, pair work, individual work, writing sentence, and game activities.         
               

Aim:  to teach prepositions in English.
         
      

Objectives: By the end of the lesson;
                    
·         Students will be able to recognize prepositions (in, on, at) by
 watching presentation including examples of prepositions.
·         Students will be able to make sentences by using prepositions in own life. (my birth is in July. My English lesson starts at 9am on Thursday)
·         Students will be able to describe events of the time, seasons, months, week, years and date  .



Procedure

     Warm up

Listening, Speaking and brainstorming:(5minutes)

The teacher greets the students with a friendly 'Hello!'... How are you today? Teacher smiles and give the class a positive atmosphere. Teacher starts lesson by asking previous topic. Students answer these questions and say we have learned adjectives and adverbs last week. And then teacher asks the today’s topic is ‘ PREPOSİTİONS’






Listening  speaking activity : 15minutes
Teacher starts to teach students on, in, at. And teaches the how we use prepositions by using presentation that s/he prepared before. While teaching students differences, teacher asks some basic questions like on which days do you have English lessons? What time does your school start every day?’. Teacher shows students the prepositions by using this presentation.


Fill in the blanks activity :10 minutes
Teacher asks the students to complete the sentences with the correct prepositions in parentheses. And teacher does the first one as an example. Then teacher gives students 5 minutes to complete the sentences. Teacher walks around the students to see whether they need help. After all students complete the sentences teacher starts to check their answers. Teacher chooses students randomly. Students come to board and write his answers to board and whole class check the answers and teacher gives feedback. Well done, good job etc.

Using course book 10 minutes
Students read the diagram and complete the comments by looking usage forms of media rates in Turkey in 2011. And students ask classmates about their media habits last week and takes short notes on a chart and summarize it to the class.


Watching video 15 minutes
Teacher asks students we will watch a video now. Find out the sentences including prepositions. Take note these sentence and you will read them to class and we will discuss about them. After video watching teacher chooses students randomly to read the sentences.


Writing activity : 15 minutes
Teacher asks each student to write five sentences including in, on at of their own life. For example; ‘I get up late on Sunday’. ‘Today I have presentation at two o’clock. Teacher gives students 7 minutes. And teacher starts to walk around the student to see whether they need help. After students finish writing, teacher chooses students randomly and they read their sentences to their friends.


 Game activity : 10 minutes
Teacher asks the students we will play a game now. And teacher introduces the game to students. Teacher divides class in three groups. Teacher gives each group a box in which there are words and preposition. Students try to make correct sentences. And students come to the board to stick them. And which group finish first that the group win the game. And teacher gives students stickers as feedback.












Input :  Presentation, worksheets.
Outcome: The products outcomes for teacher are students’ realization of prepositions.
                 The proses outcomes are speaking and writing skills.
Teacher roles:  The teacher facilitator, model, collaborator, director, controller and guider.
Students roles: Children are participator and active during the lesson. 
Organization: Pair work, individual and group work.
How to facilitate learning: language learning is facilitated by using real life task, using picture and flashcards.
