OBJECTIVES/GOALS
1-
Make them to realize vocabulary that they are familiar
with.( football, volleyball, basketball, tennis)
2-
Associate vocabularies with the meanings with the help
of visual materials.
Preparation:
I am going to organize activity according to students’ language level,
interests, age level and background. I am going to prepare pictures which each
shows a sport. And I am going to prepare a cartoon. I am going to write sport
names on the cartoon. I am going to leave place for pictures.
INTRODUCTION:
For each
of sport name I am going to say a sport name with correct pronunciation by
showing related pictures. After they hear, I am going to want them to repeat
the pronunciation. I am going to want them to say the meanings. Already they are familiar with
names of sports that are similar to their native language. If they are meet new
vocabulary, I am going to explain it. For example, probably they don’t know
rollerblading. I am going to introduce them the meaning by showing picture of
children who is rollerblading. For each picture I am going to introduce
students with sports. 10 minute is going to take probably. I am going to speak
about my own favourite sport. I am also speak about sport that I dislike. I am
going to want them to make group in four and give 10 minute to study. Each
member of group is going to speak about his/her favourite sport and sport that
she/he dislike. Other member of the same group is going to take notes about
speaker’s likes and dislikes. In this format each group is going to take notes
and write their names next to the sentences. I am going to collect notes and
ask questions about each group about their group friend’s likes and dislikes. I
am going to ask questions such as ‘’ Does hakan like football? , Does yeşim
dislike basketball?’’ group work is going to last 20 minute.
PRODUCTION :
I am sure
they are going to be interested with the subject. After they capture the
meanings of sports, I am going to want them to get permission for starting to
talk. I am going to show them a picture and one of the volunteer is going to
answer and take and stick it on the correct place. Volunteer student is going
to stick it over the written name of sport. After student stick one picture,
he/she is going to repeat the pronunciation of the vocabulary in front of the
class. Each volunteer student is going to stick one picture whatever she/he
want. The aim for repeating pronunciation in front of the class is encourage
them to speak and improve their practice of pronunciation. After each student
do the job, I am going to ask them their favourite sport. This part is going to
last 35 minute. Because while deciding whose must come and stick take much
time.
At the
end of lesson, I am going to give them balloons. They are going to blow
balloons. They are going to write one sentence about their favourite sport and
one sentence about their friend’s favourite sport. They are going to write
sport names which they remember from the lesson. End of lesson is going to last
15 minute.

: puzzle,
chess board, pictures of games, projector, a piece of cloth, a stone, one
chalk, one rope,
New Vocabulary : Swing, play marbles, blind man's buff, hopscotch,
hide and seek, skipping a rope

OBJECTIVES/GOALS:
Students will be able to;
1. express their feelings about games and hobbies
by using likes and dislikes structure
2. identify the names of the games and hobbies
3. to practise talking about hobbies and games
INTRODUCTION: (How will you introduce the teaching
skill/concept?)
I
am going to use visual materials to introduce the names of the hobbies and
games. Our essential material is projector. I am going to project the pictures
onto the screen. As soon as I show each picture one by one I am going to repeat
the names of games. I am going to want them repeat the vocabulary with correct
pronunciation. It is going to take 10 minute.
PRESENTATION:
I am going to create a context by showing
pictures of the games and hobbies. I am going to want them to watch and listen me
carefully. I am going to show one picture. I am going to enable the game to be
enlivened. For example, for the game hopscotch I am going to draw a set of
joined squares on the ground. I am going to throw one stone onto the square. I
am going want them to guess the game in their native language. I am going to
say the game name in the target language. And other example, I am going to want
a volunteer. I am going to tie over the eyes of the volunteer student. And I am
going to want him/her to try to catch me. I am going to answer my question
after we enliven the game. I am going to ask ‘which game do we play now?’ I am
going to say the word in the target language. I am going to want them to listen
me carefully. They are going to say the names of games in target language while
performing. I am going to want students to say games that they like. I am going
to mention about hobbies that familiar to them. Puzzle, chess, computer games
are already familiar to them. I am going to speak about my hobby. I am going to
show my pictures while I am enjoying with my hobby. I am going to ask some
questions about the pictures. Questions are going to be like that;" What
do you do in your leisure time? Which
hobbies, games do you like?’’ etc. I am going to give new vocabulary and write
them on the board. Presentation part is going to take 30-40 minute.
PRACTICE: Students are going to work
in pairs and tell their likes and dislikes about the games
Students are going to write their favourite
games and hobbies on a flashcard. This section is going to take 10 minute.
PRODUCTION: Each student
is going to prepare a flashcard. Each student is going to write his/her
favourite game and draw a picture next to the writing. After everybody write
the favourite games or hobbies, we are going to play memory game. Playing this memory game is going to
help students using the funny flashcards to develop memorization and efficiency.
Also I aimed to make them express their feelings. At the end of lesson, I am
going to give vocabularies by letting students go out and discover the games.
Final stage is going to take 20 minute.
