Lesson Plan 2 Gamze Nur Eskibörekcioğlu

LESSON PLAN
Teacher: Gamze Eskibörekcioğlu
Grade: 9th
Level of the students: Elementary
Topic: Going to the cinema
Duration: 40 min
Materials:  smart board, board marker , worksheets , colourful papers
Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to;
·        Recall and state words related to cinema by brainstorming.
·        Recognize types of movie by matching pictures and words.
·        Gives original of examples of how to make an invitation and suggestion; “do you want to, shall we , let’s”
·        Differentiate the words which are used and the words which are not used in the listening activity by hearing the track.
·        Recognize the words in the listening passage
·        Design a poster related to the context.

Preparation
(Pre-listening)
1.      The teacher begins the lesson with a warm-up activity which is brainstorming. The teacher asks students to come up with three words .They associate with the topic which is cinema For example: favourite movie names, actors or actresses’ names, styles. (4 min.)
2.     The teacher hands out a matching activity worksheet for pre-listening. It is about types of movies. For example: cartoon, action, horror etc. Students will match the pictures with the words. (4 min.)
3.      The teacher asks students to work in pairs and make a dialogue by using “Shall we…?”, “Let’s…?” “Do you want to…? “Why don’t we…?”(5)
The Main Activity
(While-listening)
1.     The teacher tells students they are going to hear a conversation between Mario and Tamara and the teacher tells them to listen to the conversation and circle the correct answers.  When students are ready s/he plays the recording. After then, the teacher checks their answers and writes them on the board. (5 min.)
2.     The teacher plays the recording again and asks them to work in pairs and complete the words with the correct word. (7 min.)
3.     The teacher checks their answers and writes them on the board. (3 min.)




 Follow-up
(Post-listening)
1.     The teacher divides the class into groups of four and asks them to make a poster by giving a rubric.
2.     The teacher hands out colourful papers.

At the end of the activity, the teacher tells students to present their posters in front of the class. (10 min.)
