LESSON PLAN 1

Size of Class: 30                                                     Age group of the Students: 16-17

Level of Proficiency: Intermediate                        Title of the Lesson   : Character and Friendship

Duration of the Lesson: 80 minutes                    Language Point: Past Tense

Equipment Needed: Worksheets, whiteboard and maker.

Objectives:

Ø  At the beginning of the lesson, the students will be able to learn some words related to character and friendship such as; intelligence, generosity, amusement, temperament…etc.
Ø  By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to tell which the aspect of the friendship most important and why to each other.
Ø  By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to express their experiences related to friendship.

PRESENTATION
Pre-activity(15mts)

1. Ask students to what they think are aspects of the personality they look for in people when forming friendship or relationship. Write their ideas on the board.

 Key Language:

·         Generosity
·         Amusement
·         Temperament
·         Confidentiality
·         Like-mindedness
·         Loyalty …etc.

2. Ask students that which they think is most important. And ask why.


Main activity(50 mts)

1. Tell the students they are going to see some typical comment about personality and relationships. Put them into groups of four.

2. Direct them to the first section and ask them to work together to match the comments with the aspects of the personality and relationship.

3. Tell the students to think alone for a while about their personal experiences in friendship and relationship, and to try to find an experience to illustrate each of the eight aspects of the relationship and friendship. It can be a positive or negative example, loyalty or disloyalty. Ask them to make notes.
4. Ask them to explain their notes to their group.
5. Ask each groups to choose the best example of each aspect.
6. Direct the students’ attention to the second section of the handout. Tell them to discuss eight aspects and try to decide which ones are more important. Write the important one on the top and then order them according to importance to you.
7. Ask each group why they chose it and write on the top.

Post activity (15 mts)
1. The groups of four works together to write typical comments like those on the photocopy.

2. They read out their comments and the other groups have to decide which aspects they related to.
